Bina Pillai

Bina Pillai, an alumnus of Lady Shri Ram College, New Delhi, worked in corporates for 18 years.She was the PA to the Managing Director of Milton Plastics Pvt Ltd. She was the manager of Buena Vista Travels Pvt Ltd, which had a travel counter in Hotel Leela, Mumbai. She was also the Travel Manager of Travel corporation of India.

She is an award-winning poet, author and crusader for social causes. Her work has been published in several anthologies, magazines, international poetry selections and literary journals.

She has published her poetry book, Lyrical Rhythms of My Heart, in 2017 which won awards; amongst which was the National Rising Star award in the category of Art and Culture. It had the highest rating in Goodreads 2019.

She was the associate editor of the Journal of Asian Art, Culture and Literature, and the administrator and jury member of the Asian Literary Society. She was the librarian of BPCL Society for three years and the managing committee member for eight years in her Housing Society.

Her novel, Under The Mango Tree, was published by Bigfoot Publications in November 2019, for which she has received critical acclaim and was amongst the bestselling books on Kindle. The audiobook of Under The Mango Tree has also been published. She has won many awards for the book – The Chandigarh A3 Foundation Lit-Fest award, the Lucknow Lit-Fest award, Aaveg 2021 Indian Awaz award, CriticspaceLiterary Journal award and Indian Golden award, Rotary club award, Ahmedabad Book club award and the Eternal Quest award.

She has published two more books recently. Nuggets of Life, which is a collection of short stories, and Mystical Dew Drops which is a poetry book.

She is passionate about social causes, writing, photography, cooking, painting, event management, interior decor and gardening. She has been pushing the causes of dyslexic children and was featured as a citizen journalist of CNN-IBN in this regard. She had written in all the media and did the CNN-IBN show to create awareness about the lack of schools for children with learning disabilities. She fulfilled her dream when the ‘Gateway School of Mumbai’ came up very close to her house in her locality. It’s a school for children with Learning Disability.

She has travelled widely all around the world.
Her strength is perseverance and integrity.

She has been appointed as the state president, Maharashtra, for the Council of Special Needs by WICCI (Women’s Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry).
