Like the victim of the acid attack
Shocked and surprised by the sudden act
Betrayal comes as a complete jolt
It awakens you from your stupor
And bursts the bubble of faith
You’re happily living in.
The deadliest enemy doesn’t back stab
A fake friend however, easily double-crosses.
Underneath the masks that the men hide
It’s baffling to get hold of a pure soul.
However, several times you fall
You learn to separate milk from water!
But then, who actually betrays you?
The betrayer or you do the harm?
The sweet poison’s trap can’t be ignored
Those hugs in the hard times can be misleading
You choose to trust those smiling faces
And disregard the throbbing of your own heart.
Every betrayal is hard to get over
The hardest one comes from you to you.
Hypnotised by the glittering gold of the world
Your humble being you overlook and neglect
That’s when the devil creeps in, with tempting choices
And robs you off your joys and gradually, life.
